Quick time out...

I wanted to take a quick time out to say I had forgotten how beautiful Texas is in my 3 or 4 years of absence! And how much better the Mexican food is there!!! Wow! And how Dr. Pepper is a staple item for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between! Oh, and seeing the Lonestar State flag absolutely EVERYWHERE. It was beautiful. We ate at Mercado Juarez Mexican Restaurant--it was awesome. For those of you who live in Texas, forgive me, I know you are used to all these things, but for me, it brought back many memories of being in Texas as a kid to visit family, and cherishing every minute of it. God Bless Texas!

(P.S. Dahlia, FYI, these are bluebonnets!)

I have to say, what NY does to Mexican food is a sin. I would love to one day visit TX and southern CA---especially Mexico to get some quality---"good" Mexican food. It's just rare around here. It all looks the same---mush on a plate.

My friends who came up here from Mexico makes it the authentic way---you can't beat homemade Mexican cuisine!

"Texas, Our Texas"

Texas, Our Texas! all hail the mighty State!
Texas, Our Texas! so wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev'ry test
O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.
(chorus)

Texas, O Texas! your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far,
Emblem of Freedom! it set our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of San Jacinto and glorious Alamo.
(chorus)

Texas, dear Texas! from tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor, your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes, we come your children true,
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you.

Chorus

God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.

Texas is a great place to live and raise your children....
God Bless

Those colors are amazing.

Wish I was there with a book and a picnic basket.
