I couldn't agree more with your assessment. I'll bet that bumper sticker was on the car of a non-believer.
Non-Christians don't understand that Christians aren't perfect, just sinners who have been forgiven, by the grace of God, and that we won't be perfected until we arrive at that day Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 15.
Ahh.. those bumper stickers bring out the New Yorker in me. I'll reserve commenting on what I think of them here LOL Hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving.
It is sad but true. But what people tend to forget is that Christians are currently being sanctified. I would never expect my 3 year old son to act my age....he hasn't matured yet; he is only three and he should act three. And we as believers mature with time. We cannot expect a new Christian to act like a mature Christian. And the world looks at any person who says they are a believer and they say we are all like that. That simply isn’t true. If you are not more like Christ 10 years after you are saved, then there is a definite problem, but if you are not like Christ one two years after being born again, then I would suggest that the Lord is still growing you and to be sanctified takes time. Does that make sense? Trust me, I know I should be more like Jesus; and even though I fail miserably at times; I am more like him today than I was 14 years ago when He found me (though I have a very long ways to go).
I'm really wondering about the origin and reasoning behind that bumper sticker. Maybe it's just me but it seems like something a disgruntled believer might come up with to be divisive. It still gives pause for reflection.
I would tend to agree more with Kc. I heard a speaker say once that you wouldnt go up to your wife or girlfriend and say "I love you I just can't stand your body." Nor can anyone who is sincerly Christian say such about the church.
That bumper sticker is, I believe, a quote from Ghandi - at least it is a very close paraphrase of what he said when asked either why he was not a christian or what he thought of christianity.

Bill, thanks for the comment. What you said is so true. We Christians should constantly be in a state of growth.
Kc, thanks for adding your thoughts as well.
